Our vision is all about connection;
connect to other people and to the important spaces around us – especially as it relates to surfing. Our mission to inspire local action and travel regeneratively while adapting to the climate crisis.
What started as WAVES for Development in 2008 has been a rollercoaster ride of excitement, growth, frustration and now of extreme pride. We are proud to say that the young people in Lobitos have taken over all of the operations there in Peru – including the new surf, skate and art therapy initiatives.

David Aabo is a founder and CEO of WAVES for Development International. Mr. Aabo earned a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration from Colorado State University in 2000 and a Master of Science degree in Organizational Management from the School of International Training in 2006. An avid outdoorsman, since 2000, Mr. Aabo has lived and worked in Africa, South America and the United States.
